ABOUT WMCA

Founded in 1969, the Washington Municipal Clerks Association is a non-profit membership association. The purpose of our association is to promote professional and educational standards for Municipal Clerks in local governments throughout the State of Washington; to provide improved local governmental services in the State and to support the Constitution of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.

The eminent political scientist, Professor William Bennett Munro, writing in one of the first textbooks on municipal administration, stated: "No other office in municipal service has so many contacts. It serves the mayor, the city council, the city manager (when there is one), and all administrative departments without exception. All of them call upon it, almost daily, for some service or information. Its work is not spectacular, but it demands versatility, alertness, accuracy, and no end of patience. The public does not realize how many loose ends of city administration this office pulls together."

WMCA as an organization and its membership supports professional growth and education through shared resources and networking experiences.  There is valuable information available on our website, with additional resources available in our Members Only section.
