Municipal Clerks WEEK

Don't forget to pat yourselves on the back for me for a job well done, because it's:  MUNICIPAL CLERKS WEEK - MAY 4 – MAY 10, 2008

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations to Christy O'Flaherty, City Clerk for the City of Tukwila, for achieving her CMC!  We all know how hard it is to reach this milestone, way to go Christy!!

  CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?
2008 CONFERENCE WAS JUST A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO!

All the committees worked so hard on making the 2008 conference one to remember, and remember we will.  We had a very successful conference, with a record-breaking number of vendors and let's not forget the amazing auction results:

Auction (silent and LIVE):  $6,704.00!
$1.00 raffle tickets:  $1,114.00
Raffle for $1500 Visa card:
Sold: $3,600 - cost of cards $1,511.35, print tickets $119.79
  Net:
$1,968.86

Everyone that I spoke to had a great week and we are starting to look forward to and plan for an even more amazing conference in 2009 at Ocean Shores.  So mark your calendars and if you haven't signed up to work on a committee, let this be your "gentle" reminder to do so.

Working on a committee grows even more friendships within the WMCA organization.  Go ahead, check out the committees on our website at www.wmcaclerks.org.  Trust me, it doesn't cost a thing to look!

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CLASSES

Register Now:  It is not too late to register for Professional Development classes.  Don't miss the opportunity to move forward toward your CMC or MMC certification this year - lots of great learning, plenty of networking, and fun besides.  The classes are held at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA.  June is just around the corner, so don't forget to register for classes:

Professional Development I Classes - June 1-6
Professional Development II Classes - June 8-13
Professional Development III Classes - June 15-20
Master Academy - June 11-14

The Master Academy (PD IV) is a different program than last year so you may attend and receive credit even if you attended previously.  The class has been approved by IIMC for 12 points toward your MMC certification - register as soon as possible as there is some preparation work to complete before the Institute.  Although no early registration fee applies, the early registration deadline for PD IV was April 18 in light of the prep work to be completed; there is still room and time for applicants to register for this class.

Check out the website for more information: http://www.capps.wsu.edu/NCI/

LOOKING AHEAD TO THE
2010 Conference

President-Elect Baker has chosen the Mirabeau Park Hotel in Spokane Valley as the site for the 2010 WMCA Annual Conference (doesn't that seem a long time away?)  The dates will be March 15-19, 2010.

The Mirabeau Park Hotel is new with many features that include: a year round swimming pool, hot tub and deck all the way around that is heated; excellent food with a Chef who has won awards; a shopping mall across the street; walking trails nearby; local wineries to tour, and a new downtown with an “old time” feel.
